Before becoming a full-time academic, Dr. Baird taught these semester courses:

  • Document Image Analysis, a graduate-level course co-taught with Prof. Richard Fateman, Computer Science Division, UC Berkeley, Fall 2000.
  • Data Structures, an undergraduate course (51 upperclass students), EECS Dept, Princeton University, Spring 1986.

He has acted as a mentor for many junior Bell Labs' and PARC researchers and for several undergraduate and graduate summer students.

He taught (with Larry O'Gorman) a one-day tutorial on Document Analysis Systems at the IAPR Int'l Conf. on Pattern Recognition (1994), Jerusalem, Israel.
